Join us for a Green Council event this Thursday, April 18, 6-7:30 p.m. at Sulzer Regional Library for a discussion about talking to the children in your life about climate change. You’ll receive age-appropriate guidance and practical tips to help foster resilience and hope in the face of an uncertain future.
Additionally, Reduce Waste will be collecting solar eclipse glasses to be recycled!

Waters Garden.. Sat Feb 3rd Singing in the Garden: Mark your calendars! All interested gardeners and neighbors are invited to a song circle at the Waters Garden fire pit next Saturday Feb. 3 from 1:00–2:00 p.m. We’ll get together to sing around the fire—led by Megan Eberhardt, who also leads a similar monthly event at the Old Town School—and share hot chocolate. IEC Climate Action Town Hall with Ald. Martin

Join Ald. Martin and Ald. Daniel La Spata of the 1st Ward for a conversation about some of the upcoming climate solutions that are being worked on in City Council. The discussion will include the decarbonization of buildings, electric vehicle infrastructure, and a green bank for Chicago. Alds. La Spata and Martin will be on hand along with climate and clean energy experts from the Illinois Environmental Council to field your questions, listen to your ideas, and share with you the very latest on climate solutions at the city level.

Next Green Council Meeting Dec. 2
Save the date for our next 47th Ward Green Council meeting from 7-8:30PM Monday, Dec. 2 at Sulzer Library.
We’ll have a presentation by Melissa Custic of the Chicago Region Trees Initiative, based at the Morton Arboretum. She will present on the existing tree canopy in the 47th Ward, how we compare to other parts of the city and more. We’ll learn about how we can plant more trees in the ward, areas we should target and ways to preserve the canopy we have. RSVP here.    more information, call 312-286-0956.
